PM Modi Inaugurates Pragati Maidan's Redeveloped IECC Complex

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the redeveloped International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Wednesday. The complex has been renamed "Bharat Mandapam" and is now one of the largest and most modern exhibition and convention centres in the world.

The IECC complex has a total area of 123 acres and is spread over 6 underground and 12 above-ground levels. It has a convention centre with a seating capacity of 7,000, an amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 3,000, and 14 exhibition halls. The complex also has a number of other facilities, including a food court, a shopping mall, and a parking lot with a capacity of 6,000 cars.

The IECC complex is expected to boost trade and commerce in India and attract foreign investment. It will also provide a platform for small and medium enterprises to showcase their products and services on a national and international stage.



PM Modi said that the IECC complex is a "gateway to global opportunities" and that it will help India become a "global hub for business and commerce." He also said that the complex will "strengthen India's image as a reliable and attractive destination for investment."

The IECC complex will host the G20 summit in September 2023. The summit is expected to be attended by leaders from the world's 20 largest economies.

The redevelopment of the IECC complex was a major undertaking and took over 6 years to complete. The project was funded by the Government of India at a cost of over ₹2,700 crore.



The IECC complex is a major milestone in India's journey towards becoming a global economic powerhouse. It is a symbol of India's growing economic and technological prowess, and it is sure to play a significant role in the country's future growth.
